Privacy Policy — Hamtl Connector

Hamtl Connector is a companion browser extension for Hamtl, a local document editor. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your data.

Summary

Hamtl Connector does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal information. It has no analytics, no tracking, and no remote server of its own.

What the extension does

When you click a button in the Hamtl editor on your own computer, the extension:

Receives that request from Hamtl over a local connection (127.0.0.1, never leaving your machine).
Types your prompt into an AI website tab that you have already opened and logged into (Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, or Perplexity).
Reads the resulting answer from that page and returns it to Hamtl.

Every action is initiated by you. The extension does not act on its own, does not repeat requests automatically, and does not run in the background when you are not using Hamtl.

The only data the extension keeps is your own configuration (such as which AI tab you last selected), stored locally in your browser.

Permissions and why they are needed

tabs — to list your open AI website tabs so you can choose which one to send a prompt to, and to bring the chosen tab to the front.
scripting — to insert your prompt into the page and read the answer back.
clipboardWrite — to transfer an answer, including images, back to Hamtl.
Host access to gemini.google.com, claude.ai, chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, www.perplexity.ai — these are the AI services the extension can relay prompts to. It operates only on these sites.

Third parties

No data is shared with, sold to, or transferred to any third party. The extension communicates only with the Hamtl application running on the same computer.
